What you need
SticksString or elastic bandsA leaf

- 3Float it in a puddle or a bowl.
How it actually goes
The honest version β including what "going well" looks like at this age.
- β± 30-second set-up
- Thirty seconds: put sticks, string or elastic bands, a leaf on the step or the grass, and sit down next to it before you call them over.
- π§ What you do
- Show it once, slowly, without talking over yourself. Then hand it over and stop helping unless they ask.
- πΆ What they do
- Make whatever they want with it, not what the picture shows.
- β What success looks like
- At 3β4 they'll repeat it, narrate it, and want to change the rules. Let them change the rules.
- π§Ί How to put it away
- Everything back into one basket or tray, carried back to its spot by them. Naming the spot out loud is what makes it stick.
- π When they outgrow it
- Older? Give fewer materials and more time β limits make better work.
