How it actually goes
The honest version โ including what "going well" looks like at this age.
- โฑ 30-second set-up
- Five minutes while they nap: fill three pairs of small screw-top jars with rice, lentils and pasta. Tape every lid shut. Put one set of three on a tray.
- ๐ง What you do
- Shake one jar next to your ear, then hand it over. Ask nothing for the first few minutes.
- ๐ถ What they do
- Shake, listen, and eventually find the jar that sounds the same.
- โ What success looks like
- At 2โ3, shaking all six at once and lining them up is normal. Matching a single pair, once, is a big day.
- ๐งบ How to put it away
- Jars back on the tray, tray on the shelf. Check the tape before it goes away.
- ๐ When they outgrow it
- At 4โ5, shake one behind your back and let them guess rice, pasta or lentils.
