How to do it
- 1Punch holes around a shape drawn on card.
- 2Thread a blunt needle with yarn and knot the end.
- 3Stitch hole to hole all the way round.
How it actually goes
The honest version — including what "going well" looks like at this age.

- Six minutes: punch holes around a piece of card and tie a blunt plastic needle to a shoelace.

- Sit beside them the whole time. Thread the first hole, then let it be untidy.
- 👶 What they do
- Find the next hole, push through, pull it all the way.
- ✅ What success looks like
- At 4–5, three holes then abandoning it is completely normal. Nobody needs a finished picture.
- 🧺 How to put it away
- Needle off the lace and away high, card in the drawer.

- Older? Draw the shape first, punch the holes themselves with a hole punch.
